Biography
Steven J. Mitchell is currently the state advisor for DECA and FBLA at the Tennessee Department of Education. He is currently serving a three-year, elected term on DECA Inc.’s international Board of Directors. Steven began working for Shelby County Schools, formerly known as Memphis City Schools, as a marketing education teacher in August 2010. He has earned a B.A. in communications with a minor in marketing from UT Martin, an M.S. in integrated marketing communications from Roosevelt University, and an M.A. in education from Union University. Steven chose to pursue a Doctor of Education Degree from UT Knoxville to enhance the leadership skills that he has developed from his classroom, department of education, non-profit, and corporate experiences over the past 15 years in order to become a better practitioner and advocate for our students and teachers in Tennessee.
