Courtney Shaffer

PhD Candidate, Higher Education Administration

Courtney is originally from North Carolina, where she was a first-generation college student pursuing a career in speech pathology and audiology. Throughout her undergraduate and graduate experiences, she held various roles on-campus as an office assistant, orientation leader, and tour guide. It was through those experiences that she discovered a passion for higher education and pivoted her career aspirations.

Courtney has gained extensive experience in a wide range of settings and functional areas, including admissions, advising, international student support, and program management. She currently focuses on marketing and recruiting for three specialty Master's programs at the Haslam College of Business - Accounting, Management & Human Resources, and Business Analytics. She was admitted to doctoral candidacy in April 2020 and is currently writing her dissertation, exploring the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on undergraduate major selection.
