Educational Administration and Supervision Program

Admission Criteria and Procedures

The admissions procedure includes four major steps.

  1. Graduate School Application
    Complete the application for admission which can be accessed at:

    http://admissions.utk.edu/graduate/index.shtml 

    Submit official transcripts from each institution attended to the Office of Graduate Admissions and Records. If you have previously been admitted to the Graduate Studies, you need only to file a Readmission and/or Request for Change of Graduate Program.

  2. Program Application Procedures

    For Doctorate Application:
    Complete the Educational Administration and Supervision PhD Program Application which includes a personal statement outlining your goals, showing your compatability with the Ed Admin Program, and provide evidence of commitment to the profession. If you prefer, this document may be downloaded and sent in by mail to the Office of Educational Administration and Supervision (address below).

    For Master of Science, Specialist in Education, and Pre-K-12 Licensure Application:
    Complete the EDAM Master of Science, Specialist in Education, and Pre-K-12 Program Application which includes a personal statement outlining your goals, showing your compatability with the Ed Admin Program, and provide evidence of commitment to the profession. If you prefer, this document may be downloaded and sent in by mail to the Office of Educational Administration and Supervision (address below).

    A  copy of a teaching certificate must be submitted with the application packet.
    The Application Form and the Internship Site/Mentor Agreement form are required of all applicants. Obtain approval from your administrator/principal to mentor your two-year, part-time internship and return the signed agreement form to the EDAM Office. A description of the Mentoring and the Field Experience Guidelines are included in the application packet to share with your principal.

    Three Graduate Rating Forms are required of all applicants. You may download the Rating Forms or request forms from the Educational Administration and Supervision Office. One rating form is required from your current administrator/principal and two from former administrators. Mail directly to the Educational Administration and Supervision Office.

  3. Admission Committee Screening will take place after April 1.
    All application materials including your Graduate School Application should be submitted by April 1st.

  4. Applicant Interviews will be held during April/May.
    Applicants will be notified by phone to schedule late afternoon interviews. Announcements regarding admission for this year’s class will be made in May.

  1. How to download forms
    To view an interactive PDF form, you must have the Adobe Acrobat Reader. You may download it by clicking on the yellow button below. After installing it, click the interactive form in the list that you want to view. If you are unable to open the file by clicking the link on this page, you may right-click on the file and save it to your computer desktop. You may then minimize all open windows, and double-click the file on your desktop to open it.

  2. How to complete forms online
    To complete the forms, point your mouse to area that you want to fill in and click. To fill in a box, use the mouse and click. You may move forward through the form with the TAB key, or backwards with the SHIFT + TAB key.
  3. How to print forms
    Once you have completed all items online, you are ready to print out a final copy. You can not save the completed version. Be sure to print out a copy while still online. Applications cannot be submitted electronically.
